Management Team aan Tafel @ Kanaal-Z
On the occasion of the release of Ann de Bisschop’s book 'Wellbeing = winst', Kanaal Z invited six managers for a debate program ‘MT aan tafel’.
Essensys Managing Partner, Michel Van Hemele, was participating.
Following statements were discussed:
1. Wellbeing is as important as any other department
2. Managers cut loose during the Corona lockdown
Wellbeing is as important to an organization as any other department.
All six participants agreed that wellbeing is a broad concept. It's about leadership, trust and connection. Values that are also important to Essensys.
Wellbeing goes beyond offering a piece of fruit or a yoga class once a week. It requires a policy, an annual action plan and a budget.
Managers cut loose during the Corona lockdown.
Working from home is the rule. Whereas in the past trust was lacking to let employees work from home. This becomes possible now. Top down management is old school. Empowering people and giving them freedom makes people excel and give the best of themselves. We have to hold on to that.
With the advantage of working from home, we noticed quickly it goes hand in hand with a miss of connection between colleagues and the pitfall of working in silos. That's why we need to evolve towards a hybrid model combining both working remotely and going to the office. Working towards such a model is imperative to stay in touch with colleagues on the one hand and on the other hand with the vision and goal - the bigger picture - of his organization. It is not enough to organize team meetings. In order to get the bigger picture and to understand it, it is most necessary to keep on bringing all departments in contact with each other.
