Money for nothing!
Money for nothing!
Mr. Alexander De Croo, are you sufficiently selective in the distribution of government funds?
The financial impact of the 2nd COVID wave will be milder than the 1st because we only went into partial lockdown.
Nevertheless, you have decided to re-issue general support measures until March 31, 2021.
However, the 1st lockdown taught us that the general support measures were too generous, because they were insufficiently differentiated. As a result, small bar owners received € 4.814 per closing month, more than what they declared as official income before COVID.
We risk again wasting government money that would best be kept in reserve for financing an effective recovery plan focused on productive investments. That means investing in infrastructure, mobility, training and green energy as a priority. Not as widely spread social benefits.
Belgium is heading for a budget deficit in 2020 of close to 50 billion euros. Mr. prime minister, be selective in the distribution of government funds!
You can get inspiration about selective support measures from Mark Rutten, for an inspiring and productive recovery plan you can contact Emmanuel Macron.
